Spurs Vs Sonics, Game 2

The San Antonio Spurs won game 2 over the Sonics without much difficulty, taking a 2 game lead. The Spurs are doing well, and should win the series pretty easily. I shoudl be happy and calm, but I've got a couple complaints that are really bugging me.

The first is the refereeing. We're winning, so this isn't about being sore about the outcome. But the refs were horrible tonight anyway. Come on NBA, is this what you want, to encourage whining? Ray Allen drew several bogus calls on Bowen after complaining before the series and since game 1. It's a shame that yapping about how much you're fouled is an effective strategy, and I fear the amount of whining that other players will start doing if it remains such a good tactic.

My second complaint is about the announcers. Quit giving Jerome James the benefit of the doubt! He's not a good player. He had one good series against a team who's inside precense consisted entirely of an injured Brad Miller, who's never been a strong defender anyway. Now he's playing against Duncan, Mohammed, etc., and he looks as bad as he is. Stop pretending that he's suddenly going to "step-it-up" and be a factor. Don't suggest that Sonics try to get the ball inside to him more often! It makes you all look ignorant. He's a mediocre player. Please, please, comprehend this simple fact. He's averaging 5 points and 3 rebounds per game this year. Sheesh!

So the Sonics shouldn't have given James the ball tonight? Because they didn't want those 15 points he added?

You want to talk about bad tactics. What about Ginobili throwing his head back as if he was fouled. He even fell to the floor injured. But on the replay the announcers laughed at him because NO ONE WAS THERE.

I'll admit, James getting 15 points makes this post look a bit foolish.

If I recall, the announcers were silent when they finally showed that play with Ginobili from a useful angle. Why? Because that angle showed that Antonio Daniels' hand had flown back and hit Ginobili in the face, and they had just spent the previous few minutes making an ass out of themselves by calling it a flop.

I guess that's an example of the Seattle broadcasting bias. I was watching the Fox Sports broadcast instead of ESPN (I was tired of their comments on Danny Fortson) and they didn't show any other angle.

I agree with the other post on your man Ginobili. This guy deserves an Oscar for every performance he gives. Either that, or a trip to the hospital. The man looks like Sylvester Stallone with down syndrome. But most importantly. Your team almost got took by a team missing two of it's three best starters. No. I take that back. Your team won cause the refs handed it to them.

Believe what you like. Ginobili gets beat up as much as any other player in the league.

The refs handed it to us? What's the basis for that?

If you're looking for reasons that the Sonics big men were in foul trouble constantly, here it is: they don't play defense well, so they fouled a lot. Getting called for fouls you commit doesn't equate to the refs handing the game to other team.
